Our Vision
To become a leading digital cultural heritage platform that preserves, promotes, and transforms indigenous knowledge into accessible, interactive, and educational experiences for communities, researchers, and future generations.
Our Mission
To preserve and promote the cultural heritage of Tharaka Nithi, Embu and Mbeere communities through artificial intelligence, digital innovation, immersive technologies, and community-driven knowledge sharing while supporting education, research, and cultural identity preservation.
Project Background
The Tharaka, Embu and Mbeere communities possess rich cultural traditions, oral histories, indigenous languages, sacred heritage sites, traditional foods, music, rituals, medicinal knowledge, environmental practices, and social systems that have been passed from generation to generation.
However, modernization,
urbanization, and changing lifestyles continue to threaten the preservation of
this valuable indigenous knowledge. Many oral traditions, cultural practices,
and linguistic expressions are gradually disappearing.
CIS-ETHN was developed to address
this challenge by creating a smart digital system capable of:
- Preserving oral traditions and indigenous knowledge
- Digitizing cultural heritage resources
- Supporting cultural education and research
- Promoting local heritage tourism
Enhancing access to cultural information through AI technologies.
